"Hell of a book. It's about bunnies." --Sawyer
1x08 "Confidence Man"

Shannon's inhaler runs out and Boone believes Sawyer has the remaining three in his stash. When Sawyer refuses to give them up, Jack and Sayid resort to torturing Sawyer until he agrees to give the location of the inhalers. In flashback we hear Sawyer's story and find he is not who he says he is.

Next post/episode: Tuesday/1x09 "Solitary"
Possible Discussion Topics:
-- What did you think about the Sawyer/Kate kiss?
-- What the hell was Jack thinking in letting Sayid torture Sawyer?
-- General thoughts about the very first Sawyer-centric episode!

omg bb look at you go doing the post and being all badass!

I officially started to ship Shannon/Boone this ep. It's sad.

SAWYER/KATE NEEDED TO END FOREVER WITH THIS EP. Srsly. No more. That fine piece of man is far too good for her.

Jack was thinking that Sayid/Sawyer would be amazing to watch and as a fangirl I needed to see the resolution from their previous fight.

ITA with the above comment.

I tried to pay extra-special close attention during all of the Shannon/Boone scenes, because I know on the first run through I had been sort of sideswiped by the true nature of their relationship. I thought it was great, and sweet, but still hadn't seen it coming. In hindsight, though, it's pretty obvious that their affections go beyond a brother-sister relationship.

I did nothing but cringe and shake my head during the Swayer/Kate kiss scene. I can't help but feel bad for Sawyer in this whole thing - he definitely deserves a better kind of woman than her. (Luckily he gets a better woman a few seasons from now.)

Also, it's kind of funny that the only person that's really any good at interacting with Sawyer, later in the series, is Hurley. Everyone else approaches him with just the wrong turn of phrase or attitude and BAM, he goes off. I think that one of my favorite Sawyer moments was the episode when Sawyer was tricked by Hurley into being nice and sort of taking charge of the camp in Jack's absence. I think it says a lot about the kind of man Sawyer really is, and how perceptive Hurley can be.

Also, poor, poor Sayid. In light of what's happening with him in Present-Day-1977, I just can't help but feel so bad for the guy. ...Not that I'm not looking forward to the Rousseau/Sayid torture-fest that's coming up. Because that, my friends, is hawt.

P.S. The more I think about it, the more I have to conclude that Adam & Eve of the Rape Caves must be Rose and Bernard. RIP, Best Couple Ever. ;__;

Dude Count: 2

Sawyer Nicknames:
Jack - Doc, Cowboy, Chico
Kate - Freckles
Sayid - Ali
the caves - Cave Town

Favorite Quotes:
"That was like...a Jedi moment," Hurley
"I became Sawyer." Sawyer

I'm not a Skate fan so I hated the kiss. The first time around I think I liked it because I liked Kate but now that I know her, I don't want her anywhere near Sawyer.

I love Sawyer to death but I can't blame Jack and Sayid for torturing him to get Shannon's medicine. The thing that bothered me though was how Jack was saying they weren't savages and then him and Sayid haul Sawyer into the jungle and torture him.

I love Sawyer episodes, even though his flashbacks are kinda sad.

Poor Sawyer, he gets all beat up. If he said he didn't have the meds they probably would have thought he was lying and beat him up anyway.
