1x03 "Tabula Rasa"

1x03: Jack and Hurley discover an alarming secret about Kate, as the Marshal's life hangs in the balance and he suffers a lot of pain. Meanwhile Kate, Charlie, Sawyer, Sayid, Boone and Shannon ponder the mysteries they have begun to uncover and worry that telling the other survivors will cause panic. They decide to lie for the time being. Also, Locke's befriending of Walt disturbs Michael, but Walt is more concerned in finding his dog. Lastly, Kate flashes back to when she was arrested by the Marshal in Australia.

A Kate-centric episode.

Next Episode: 06/06/09 [Saturday]
Apologies for this post being later then the last. However if you lot enjoy 7pm EST more then 5pm I'd be perfectly fine with posting the main post later.

Sawyer's hair was so much better in the first season.

I watched the first four episodes of the first season today and I was thinking, "Oh hey this is when Kate and Jack were more likeable." But I was quickly proven wrong in the first part of the pilot when Kate didn't given a shit about Charlie's safety and kept crying out for Jack.

Favorite Quotes:
"Nice stick." Sawyer
"He looks kinda...dying." Hurley
"But the bodies are in there and they're all...dead." Hurley
"Boo." Sawyer
"I'm in the wild." Sawyer
"Three days ago we all died." Jack

Sawyer's Nicknames:
Sayid - Abdul, Aljazeera
Kate - Freckles
Boone - Boy (not sure if this counts)
Jack - Hero

Kate's alias was Annie.

Jin was such a jerk to Sun in the beginning.

Kate's reward is $23,000. 23 being one the cursed numbers.

Jack, Locke, and Kate are wearing light colored shirts.

Charlie, Claire, and Sawyer are wearing dark colored shirts.

Ray has a wooden arm. Other people who have/had arm problems are Dr. Chang and Montand.

Charlie told Claire whoever was using the wheelchair is better off than them. It was Locke's wheelchair and since he's the only one who enjoys being on the island, what Charlie said is true.

The song playing at the end is Wash Away by Joe Purdy.

It's kinda weird watching Season One over again, knowing what happens in say, season five.

I can't help but watch Locke and pay extra close attention. It's hard not to wonder...Was he always Esau? What if Locke was setting into action a series of events by finding Vincent for Michael? It almost makes sense when you see the odd close up of Locke at the very end of the episode!

I'm sure it's all a stretch, but it's neat to think about, anyway. HEY I HAVE NOTHING ELSE TO DO FOR THE NEXT NINE MONTHS.

Also. Sawyer was so much cooler in like, seasons 1-3. I miss old Sawyer.

What got me was the creepy music and close-up on Locke at the end. I don't think he was Esau all along but there's definitely foreshadowing that I didn't pick up the first time I watched.

So it's really hard for me to watch this and be unbiased towards Jack and Kate. Jack I don't hate quite as much I did in later seasons but ugh Kate is so annoying. I don't think I hated her this much when I watched the first time.
I kinda like it when a whole lotta people diedrwolfenstein on June 5th, 2009 09:49 pm (UTC)
What I've learned from watching this ep. again....
Kate's flashback when the plane is going down still terrifies me.

Re: What I've learned from watching this ep. again....
I love, tho, that even in the middle of all that happening, Kate still takes the time to put the oxygen mask on the Marshal.

I don't think I'll ever understand why they ended the ep with that creepy music and Locke closeup.
